This poet laureate of modern Kannada literature has been widely recognized as one of its greatest contributors. He began writing poetry at the age of five in his native tongue, Kannada. His first book of poems, titled 'Rohini', was published while he was still studying at college.

One such example is seen in his poem, "Jamadagni," where he skillfully weaves together Hindu mythology with contemporary societal issues.
