The Kannada language is primarily spoken by over 5 crore people, primarily residing in India's southern states of Karnataka and Kerala, with smaller communities scattered across other Indian states. It is also one of the 22 scheduled languages of India. Despite being traditionally considered a Dravidian language, recent research suggests it might have originated from proto-Austroasiatic, making it part of the Austronesian family. Moreover, the influence of English among youngsters who prefer speaking English to their parents, teachers, friends, and fellow students imposes another challenge.
