Medieval History Capsule 750-1200 AD
- This period is divided into two parts: 750-1000 AD and 1000-1200 AD
- The first phase saw prominent powers like Gurjara Pratiharas, Palas, and Rashtrakutas
- These powers frequently clashed in the Gangetic region (Tripartite Struggle)
- The second phase (1000-1200 AD) saw the decline of these large empires and the emergence of smaller kingdoms
- These smaller kingdoms faced Turkish attacks by Mahmud of Ghazni and Muhammad Ghori in the 11th and 12th centuries, but ultimately succumbed due to disunity
The Chalukyas
- The Chalukyas' history is categorized into three periods: Early Western (6th-8th century), Later Western (7th-12th century), and Eastern (7th-12th century)
- Pulakesin I (543-566) was the first independent ruler of Badami (Vatapi).
