- Served as Latin Secretary to the Commonwealth Government from 1649 to 1653.

- He was blind and facing hardships due to his political past.
- Published his most renowned masterpieces: Paradise Lost (1667 and 1674), Paradise Regained (1671), and Samson Agonistes (1671).
- Died on November 8th, 1674, and was buried in St. Giles' Church.
