• Jesus took Peter, James, and John a bit further in the Garden of Gethsemane, telling them to stay awake and be vigilant, saying "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch."
• Jesus felt afraid and very sad in the Garden of Gethsemane because he was deeply troubled and distressed, knowing that his time of suffering and death was near.

• Judas Iscariot, one of Jesus' twelve apostles, led the soldiers to Jesus' hiding place in the Garden of Gethsemane, betraying him with a kiss.
• When Jesus found his disciples asleep for the third time in the Garden of Gethsemane, he said, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners."
