Islamic Subject (Revision Sheet) Grade 11 Term 1 (2024-2025)
- This document is a revision sheet for Islamic Studies, Grade 11, Term 1.
Lesson 1: Surah Al-Ahzab
- Theme: The Confederates
- Key Verses: Focus on obeying Allah and the Prophet, trust in Allah, equitable treatment, and the importance of truthfulness.
- Key Concepts: Avoiding disbelievers and hypocrites, importance of guidance from Allah, proper treatment of family and relations, fulfilling commitments (mi'thāq), and the punishment for disbelievers.
- Call them by their fathers: More equitable in the eyes of Allah.
- Blood relations: Closer to one another in the book than believers or emigrants, but in regards to friends, it is acceptable in the book to treat them well.
- Prophet's concern: The Prophet cares for believers more than they care for themselves.
- Prophet's wives: Wives of the Prophet are mothers of the believers.
Lesson 2: Abstinence (Isti'faf)
- Definition: Abstaining from improper behaviors and embodying virtue.
- Importance for Individuals: High ambition, communal responsibility, winning trust and respect of others by following the will of Allah.
- Importance for Society: Solidarity against threats, freedom from crime, progress and prosperity, and stable economic dealings.
Lesson 3: The Manners of Dialogue
- Theme: Grace of Mind and Tongue
- Key Concepts: Importance of maintaining a good tongue, the necessity for maintaining respectful manners in dialogue, listening as essential, and focusing on finding the truth through dialogue.
- Characteristics of Sincere Debaters: Avoidance of boasting, adhering to good moral character, friendly expressions and demeanour.
- Etiquette of Listening: Respectful listening, the importance of listening to understand before responding, and the many benefits of listening and silence.
