The Wudu
- The Wudu is a ritual cleansing performed by Muslims before prayer
- The steps are:
- Make your intention and say "Bismallah" - set your mind on the greatness of Allah
- Wash your hands x3 - Cleanse yourself of the things you have done
- Rinse your mouth x3 - Cleanse yourself of the things you have said
- Rinse your nostrils x3 - Cleanse yourself of your experiences / desires

7 Dimensions of Religion
- Ritual Dimension: Practices, ceremonies, and rites in a religion. e.g. Worship, prayer, sacraments, or festivals. Used to express beliefs and foster a sense of community
- Mythological Dimension: Sacred stories that convey beliefs and values. e.g. Origin of the universe, narrative about historical figures and moral lessons
- Doctrinal Dimension: Teachings, beliefs, and concepts of a religion. e.g. Creeds, ethical guidelines, and interpretations of sacred texts
- Ethical Dimension: Moral principles and guidelines for behavior. e.g. How adherents should live their lives
- Experiential Dimension: Personal experiences of individuals in a religion. e.g. Feeling of awe, living after death
- Social Dimension: Communal and institutional structures of a religion. e.g. Organization of religious communities and leadership roles
- Material Dimension: Physical expressions of a religion. e.g. Sacred objects, architecture, books, symbols, and art.
The Prophet
- Muhammad is regarded as the final prophet in Islam
- His teachings form the foundation of the Islamic faith
- He received revelations from Allah (God) through the Angel Gabriel, which were later compiled into the Quran
- He is a role model for Muslims, embodying the principles of Islam in his character and conduct
- He is also referred to as "Al-Rasul" (the Messenger) and "Al-Nabi" (the Prophet)
Two Important Events in the Life of the Prophet
- The Revelation of the Quran (610 CE): Muhammad received his first revelation from God at the age of 40. This event marks the beginning of his prophethood and the gradual revelation of the Quran over the next 23 years.
- The Hijra (622 CE): The Hijra refers to Muhammad's migration from Mecca to Medina due to persecution from the Quraysh tribe in Mecca. This event marks the beginning of the Islamic calendar (1 AH).
