- The main purpose is to predict outcomes or responses in a living system
- This involves complex mathematical modeling, often referred to as bioinformatics

- Genomics: study of an organism's complete DNA
- Proteomics: study of the set of all proteins produced within a biological unit
- Metabolomics: study of metabolites within a given unit
Reduction vs. Integration
