Group Activity

  • Each group will create a short skit (2-3 minutes) where they act out their assigned role
  • Each group can't share their topic
  • After the skit the students will guess what type of Journalistic Writing was portrayed

  • Understanding of Article Type (20 pts)

    • Excellent - Role-play clearly represents the assigned journalistic writing type with accurate features.
    • Good - Mostly represents the assigned type with minor inaccuracies.
    • Satisfactory - Shows some understanding but includes noticeable inaccuracies.
    • Needs Improvement - Role-play poorly represents the assigned type or is incorrect.
  • Content Accuracy (15 pts)

    • Excellent - Information presented is factual, relevant, and aligns with the article type.
    • Good - Mostly accurate with minor errors.
    • Satisfactory - Some inaccuracies or missing details.
    • Needs Improvement - Multiple inaccuracies; lacks relevance to the topic.
  • Creativity & Engagement (10 pts)

    • Excellent - Presentation is highly creative, engaging, and holds the audience's attention.
    • Good - Presentation is interesting but could engage engagement.
    • Satisfactory - Some creative elements but lacks full audience engagement.
    • Needs Improvement - Lacks creativity; unengaging or difficult to follow.
  • Collaboration & Participation (5 pts)

    • Excellent - All group members actively participated and contributed equally to the role-play.
    • Good - Most members participated with some imbalance in contributions.
    • Satisfactory - Uneven participation; few members did most of the work.
    • Needs Improvement - Poor teamwork; minimal participation from most members.

Take Home Activity (25 points)

  • Find 1 headline for each of the following types of journalistic writing:
    • News Report
    • Editorial/Opinion
    • Feature Article
    • Sports News Article
  • Use newspapers, magazines, or online news sources
  • For each headline, write what type of article it is, explain briefly what the article is about (1-2 sentences)
  • Give a simple reason why to belongs to that type
  • Write your answers, and submit for next meeting

  • Correct Identification (10pts): Correctly identifies the 4 types
  • Basic explanation(10pts): Provide simple but clear reasons
  • Neatness & Completion (5pts): Work is completed and neatly done.
