Course Introduction

  • This course is an introduction to the Media Arts Pathway and covers creative and conceptual aspects of designing media arts experiences and products.
  • The course explores various media forms, including moving image, sound, interactive, spatial, and/or interactive design.

Materials

  • A flash drive with at least 32 GB of storage is recommended, although students can also save their work on Google Drive (note: access to Google Drive will be lost after graduation).

Expectations

  • Follow the device agreement rules at all times to avoid immediate write-up.
  • Be seated and ready to work when the bell rings.
  • Refrain from using phones during class.
  • Do not bring food into class.
  • Keep drinks on the designated table and only access them during breaks.
  • Return all items to their designated places after use.
  • Attend FBLA / TSA graphic design meetings.

Attendance

  • Attendance is mandatory and will affect effort grade.
  • The course is fast-paced, and each day builds upon the previous one, making it essential to attend classes regularly.
  • Laptops cannot be taken home, but students with suitable laptops can work from home by logging into their Adobe account.

Work Arrangements

  • If absent, students must come to power hour to catch up on work, even if they work from home.
  • If unable to attend power hour, students must arrange to stay after school or come before school starts to work on assignments with Ms. Meredith.

Grading

  • Projects and experiments make up 60% of the grade, with several in-class activities and a few projects.
  • Participation and effort account for 40% of the grade, including attendance, being ready for class, engaging in discussions, following directions, and completing projects on time.
