HIV/AIDS

HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus, which causes AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome). HIV primarily spreads through sexual contact, blood transfusions, and sharing needles. There is currently no cure for HIV/AIDS, but medications called antiretroviral therapies (ART) can control the virus and slow down its progression.

COVID-19

COVID-19 is a respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2. Common symptoms include fever, dry cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion, or difficulty breathing. Preventive measures include wearing masks, practicing social distancing, washing hands frequently, and getting vaccinated against COVID-19.

Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis (TB) is a bacterial infection that usually affects the lungs, although it can also impact other parts of the body. Symptoms include persistent cough, chest pain, unexplained weight loss, fever, and night sweats. Treatment involves a combination of antibiotics taken daily for six months.

These diseases remain challenging as they continue to evolve, requiring ongoing surveillance and vigilance. Public awareness campaigns and preventive measures play critical roles in controlling their spread and ensuring better overall health outcomes for individuals and communities.
