The President of India

  • An integral part of the Parliament, with the power to give assent to bills to become law.
  • Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, with the power to declare war and peace with other nations.
  • Nominal head of the Indian state, with real powers vested in the Prime Minister.
  • Exercises the power to appoint and transfer judges, ambassadors, and other high officials.
  • Has the power to commute and pardon sentences, with some exceptions.
