The Union Executive
- The Union Executive consists of the President, Vice-President, Council of Ministers, and the Attorney General of India.
The President of India
- Regarded as the First Citizen of India and the highest constitutional authority.
- Appears at the first position in the table of precedence.
- An integral part of the Parliament, with the power to give assent to bills to become law.
- Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, with the power to declare war and peace with other nations.
- Nominal head of the Indian state, with real powers vested in the Prime Minister.
- Exercises the power to appoint and transfer judges, ambassadors, and other high officials.
- Has the power to commute and pardon sentences, with some exceptions.
- Can grant reprieve, respite, and remission of punishment, but not pardoning the governor's sentence.
