Understanding the chemical composition of foods helps us understand nutrition better. Similarly, medicines work through chemical reactions inside your body that help cure diseases or treat symptoms.

Moreover, chemistry plays a vital role in environmental protection. Our planet is currently facing challenges related to pollution, climate change, waste management, etc., making it necessary for chemists to develop environmentally friendly solutions. Chemical pollutants can enter our ecosystems via air, soil, surface water or groundwater. In order to mitigate this issue, chemists have designed numerous techniques such as neutralization, precipitation, flotation concentration, solvent extraction, ion exchange, reverse osmosis and ultrafiltration among others.
