- Eligibility standards for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) are established by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI).
Temporary Access Situations
- Heads of Intelligence Community Elements may authorize temporary access to SCI during:
- National emergencies
- Hostilities involving U.S. personnel
- Exceptional circumstances requiring official functions per Executive Order.
Duration of Temporary Access
- Temporary access to SCI is limited and shall not exceed one year.

Threshold Criteria for SCI Access
