    Support Sectors

    • Support sectors may be established by the Incident Commander (IC) to maintain a reserve supply of equipment, personnel, or specialized resources.

    Air Supply Sector

    • An Officer is assigned to run the Air Supply Sector.
    • The Air Supply Officer is responsible for:
      • Organizing the rotation of empty and full air cylinders.
      • Ensuring full air cylinders are transported from the Air/Light vehicle to sectors.
      • Monitoring the number of cylinders available for use and requesting additional Air/Light vehicles if needed.

    Air Supply Staging Team

    • The Air Supply Staging Team consists of a minimum of two Firefighters who:
      • Perform on-air cylinder changeovers.
      • Record the time of the changeover for advanced air management.

    Air Supply Staging Area

    • An Air Supply Staging Area is considered when crews travel an extended distance in an IDLH (Immediately Dangerous to Life or Health) atmosphere.
    • The Air Supply Staging Area allows firefighting crews to exchange their SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) cylinder without exiting the structure.
