Cüleybib (r.a.), a young man who was causing hardship to women, caused sadness among the companions of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). They spoke to the Prophet (pbuh) about it, but could not find the right words. One day, they reported this matter to the Prophet (pbuh). He summoned Cüleybib and they had a conversation.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) asked Cüleybib if he was causing hardship to women, just as he had done to his own mother. Cüleybib replied that he did not want to. But Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) reminded him that the woman in question was also someone's daughter. He then asked Cüleybib if he wanted to cause hardship to his sister. Again, Cüleybib replied that he did not want to.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) reminded Cüleybib that causing hardship to someone was still causing hardship, regardless of the relationship. Cüleybib, realizing the truth of this, remained silent. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) then prayed for Cüleybib, asking Allah to guide him.
Cüleybib became one of the most virtuous young men of Medina. He was later martyred in battle, and his companions found him among the bodies of seven men. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) identified him, and spoke to the families of the other men, telling them that Cüleybib had been the one to kill their relatives.
In another incident, the Prophet (pbuh) gave a sermon to the people of Medina, warning them against causing hardship and leaving the path of Allah. He used the example of a man who had caused hardship to others and was then killed.
