    Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) Life and Early Islamic Community

    • Birth: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was born on Monday, 12th of Rabi' al-Awwal, the year of the Elephant. Born in Mecca in the house of his uncle, Abu Talib, of the Banu Hashim clan.
    • Mother's Death: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was six years old when his mother, Aminah, passed away during a visit to her relatives near Medina. She was buried near Mecca.
    • Guardianship: After his mother's death, his grandfather, Abdul-Muttalib, cared for him. Then after the death of his grandfather, at 8 years old, his uncle Abu Talib took care of him.
    • Early life and work: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) grazed sheep to support himself. He was present at the Hulf al-Fudul, an agreement amongst Meccans against injustice. He later married Khadijah bint Khuwailid.
    • Reconstruction of the Kaaba: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his uncle Abbas participated in rebuilding the Kaaba after its destruction during a fire and flooding; the Kaaba's height was raised by 18 cubits.
    • Beginning of Revelation: At the age of 40, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) frequently secluded himself in the cave of Hira and pondered the creation. On Monday of Ramadan, the first revelation from God to the Prophet (PBUH) occurred within the cave. The verse stated in the Quran: "Read in the name of your Lord who created, created man from a clot." (Surat al-Alaq).

    Beginning of the Islamic Da'wah (Prophethood)

    • Early Converts: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) began his personal mission to call people to Islam, starting with his family and close friends. Khadijah (R), Ali ibn Abi Talib (R), Zayd ibn Harithah (R), the Prophet's daughters, and Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (R) were among the first to accept Islam.

    • Compromise Proposals and Failed attempts to end the boycott: The Meccans failed to end the boycott until the Banu Hashim agreed to end the persecution.

    The First Hijra (Migration) to Abyssinia

    • Persecution and hardship: Muslims faced imprisonment, torture, and various forms of hardship to prevent them from practicing their faith.
    • Seeking refuge: Faced with mounting persecution, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised companions to migrate to Abyssinia (Ethiopia) to seek refuge and protection.

    Second Hijra to Abyssinia

    • Larger migration: A larger number of Muslims, including approximately 82 men and 11 women, migrated, fleeing increased hostility.

    The Journey to Taif

    • Seeking support: To seek support from the Thaqif tribe in Taif, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) made a journey; the journey lasted ten days in the eleventh year of his mission.
    • Rejection in Taif: However, the Thaqif tribe did not accept his message.

    The First Pledge of Aqaba

    • Mecca's Rejection leads to Medina's response: Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) continued to preach and call to Islam. At the Hajj festivals, he encountered delegations from the Aws and Khazraj tribes of Medina.
    • Pledge of Support: They heard his message and, impressed, pledged to support him and were known as the "first pledge of Aqaba"

    The Second Pledge of Aqaba

    • The next year, 72 men and two women from the Aws and Khazraj tribes returned to Medina to pledge their support for Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in a pledge called the "second Pledge of Aqaba".

    The Migration to Medina

    The Journey to the Pledge of Aqaba followed by the emigration to Medina
