On the right side, the iliac surface is in relation to the terminal ileum, cecum, and appendix.
On the left side, it supports the distal descending colon and the proximal portion of the sigmoid colon.
The iliac surface is the antero-medial surface, while the gluteal surface is the postero-lateral surface.
