    Exemption from the provisions of North Dakota Century Code chapter 43-48 is provided for individuals licensed by the board who perform certain FDA-waived tests and use certain methods, including cholesterol, urinalysis, fecal occult blood, ovulation, pregnancy, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, whole blood glucose, spun microhematocrit, hemoglobin, immunoassay, prothrombin time international normalized ratio, nicotine or cotinine, thyroid stimulating hormone, bone mass and mineral density, and drug screening tests.

    Definitions are provided for “authorized pharmacist,” “authority,” and “written protocol” for the purpose of this chapter.

    Qualifications are established for pharmacists to obtain authority, including obtaining and maintaining a license to practice pharmacy, completing educational requirements, obtaining and maintaining current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation or basic cardiac life support, completing an attestation process, and maintaining continuing competency.

    Procedures to obtain a certificate of authority are outlined.

    Requirements for a practitioner order for a pharmacist to administer injections include the identity of the practitioner, patient, medication or vaccine, and dose, as well as the date of the original order and subsequent administration dates.
