Hindi Grammar

Hindi is one of the most widely spoken languages in India. It has its roots in Sanskrit and shares much with other Indo-European languages such as Persian and Arabic. Like many Indian languages, it follows a system known as sandhi rules which governs how consonants can combine to form new sounds.

Hindi Literature

The history of Hindi literature dates back several centuries when Sanskrit poetry transformed into popular folk songs with simple vocabulary accessible even to uneducated audiences. One notable early poet who influenced modern Hindi writing style was Tulsidas whose epic poem Ramcharitmanas became extremely influential across Northern India.

During British colonial rule, many poets wrote in Urdu due to its association with Muslim culture; however, after independence, Hindi took over as the official language for all departments except law courts which continued to use English. Post-independence saw writers breaking away from traditional styles to create unique styles expressing their own sentiments regarding nationalism, urbanization, patriotism, etc., leading to what we know today as Modern Hindi literature.

Some famous writers in this genre were Premchand who created works set against rural backdrops exploring themes of poverty, caste hierarchy, superstition, feudal morality and exploitation; Munshi Premchand who helped develop realism within Hindi literature with his historical novels reflecting political events affecting Indian society during those times; and Jaishankar Prasad who pioneered a literary movement called Chhayavaad or romanticism addressing issues related to human emotions including love, passion, romance and beauty.
