The Syllabus

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has designed the syllabus for seventh grade Hindi students comprising the following three main areas:

1. Shabd Vigyan (Vocabulary): Students learn approximately 80 new words per chapter along with synonyms, antonyms, and derivations. Fluency through usage is emphasized, focusing on spoken and written communication skills.

Grammatical Concepts

Seventh graders will begin studying compound sentences, improving sequential narratives while using appropriate pronouns such as jis and jo. They also dive deeper into comparisons using the conjunctions ka, se, and kī. Additionally, they explore word order flexibility and practice using active voice more often.

Students learn how to negate a statement by using auxiliary verbs like na and nā, complex tenses such as future perfect continuous (chū gaya raha tha) and past simple tense (as opposed to past participle), and relative clauses. By the end of the year, they're expected to become capable writers who understand the importance of inclusive language, vocabulary enrichment, and proper punctuation when communicating in Hindi.
