Heritage & Halfbreeds
- Heritages offer players the opportunity to build unique characters with diverse ancestries and backgrounds.
- Heritages include bloodlines, cultures, and exceptional events that shape a character's development.
- Players choose ability score increases, size, darkvision, bloodlines, cultures, languages, and 1st-level spells based on their chosen heritage.
- Every creature, including player characters, has a creature type; most player characters are Humanoid.
- Creature types include: Aberration, Beast, Celestial, Construct, Dragon, Elemental, Fey, Fiend, Giant, Humanoid, Monstrosity, Ooze, Plant, and Undead.
Fey Heritage
- Fey Heritage represents characters with ties to the fey realm.
- Traits include:
- Trance: Allows for 4 hours of meditation in place of sleep, providing the same benefit as 8 hours of rest.
- Charm Resistance: Advantage on saving throws against charming effects and immunity to being put to sleep by magic.
- Cantrip: Proficiency with the friends cantrip.
- Innate Magic: Choose one 1st-level spell from the divination or enchantment school of magic to cast once per long rest.
- Fey Step: Allows casting the misty step spell once per short or long rest.
- Fey Cunning: Advantage on all Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws against magic.
- Magic Resistance: Advantage on saving throws against spells and magical effects.
Fiend Heritage
- Represents characters with fiendish bloodlines or ancestry, perhaps through a deal with a fiend.
- Traits include:
- Cantrip: Learn one cantrip from the warlock spell list.
- Fiendish Resistance: Resistance to cold, fire, or lightning damage.
- Innate Magic: Choose one 1st-level spell from the warlock spell list to cast once per long rest.
Feline Heritage
- Represents characters with feline ancestry or feline traits.
- Traits include:
- Claws: Deal 1d4+ Strength modifier slashing damage when attacking with unarmed strikes.
- Cantrip: Learn a cantrip from the warlock spell list.
- Climb Speed: Climbing speed of 30 feet.
- Feline Leap: Long jump of 20 feet and high jump of 10 feet.
- Innate Magic: Choose one 1st-level spell from the warlock spell list to cast once per long rest.
Stout Heritage
- Represents characters with an ancestry that includes dwarves, orcs, or giants, known for their sturdiness.
- Traits include:
- Toxin Resilience: Advantage on saving throws against poison and disease.
- Poison Resistance: Resistant to poison damage.
- Natural Armor: AC calculated as 12 + Constitution modifier.
- Relentless: If reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, drop to 1 hit point instead, usable once per long rest.
- Toughness: Hit point maximum enhanced by 1, increasing by 1 per level.
- Durable: When taking damage, use a reaction to roll a d12 and add Constitution modifier, reducing damage by the total, usable once per short or long rest.
Skirmisher Heritage
- Represents characters specializing in ambush tactics.
- Traits include:
- Skirmisher's Speed: Base walking speed increased by 5 feet.
- Lethal Strike: When dealing damage with a melee weapon attack, roll one additional damage die on a critical hit.
- Beast Tracker: Double proficiency bonus on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track beasts.
- Keen Senses: Advantage on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on hearing or sight.
Mage Heritage
- Represents characters raised in a society with a strong arcane tradition.
- Traits include:
- Cantrip: Learn one cantrip from the wizard spell list.
- Learned Magic: Choose one 1st-level spell from the wizard spell list to cast once per long rest.
- Destructive Spell: Once per short or long rest, deal extra damage equal to level to a single target of a spell used to damage a creature.
- Natural Armor: Thick skin grants AC of 12 + Constitution modifier, unaffected by shield usage.
- Skill Proficiency: proficiency with: Arcana, History, Investigation, Nature, or Religion.
Waterborne Heritage
- Represents characters who feel at home with the sea.
- Traits include:
- Tool Proficiency: Proficiency with one tool: carpenter’s tools, navigator's tools, or vehicles (water).
- Cantrip: Learn one cantrip from the cleric spell list.
- Beast Tracker: Double proficiency bonus on Wisdom (Survival) checks to track beasts.
- Devout Magic: Choose one 1st-level spell from the cleric spell list to cast once per long rest.
- Skill Proficiency: Proficiency with: Religion, History, Insight, Persuasion, Deception, or Medicine.
Warrior Heritage
- Represents characters raised in a society dedicated to warfare.
- Traits include:
- Brave: Advantage on saving throws against being frightened.
- Aggressive: Use bonus action to move towards a visible or audible enemy, ending the movement closer to the enemy, cannot use this feature to move further away from an enemy.
- Savage Attacks: Roll one additional damage die on a critical hit with a melee weapon.
- Combat Training: Proficiency with two simple weapons of your choice.
- Martial Training: Proficiency with 2 martial weapons of your choice.
- Light Armor Training: Proficiency with light armor.
- Medium Armor Training: Proficiency with light and medium armor.
- Heavy Armor Training: Speed is not reduced when wearing heavy armor.
Criminal Heritage
- Represents characters raised outside the bounds of the law.
- Traits include:
- Tool Proficiency: Proficiency with a gaming set and choice of tools: thieves' tools, disguise kit, forgery kit, or poisoner's kit.
- Expert Forgery: Advantage on checks to forge or duplicate objects.
- Thief's Intuition: Roll a d4 and add to ability checks using thieves' tools.
- Cantrip: Learn one cantrip from the bard spell list.
- Merge with Shadows: Cast the pass without trace spell once per long rest.
- Skill Proficiency: Proficiency with: Deception, Insight, Investigation, Performance, Slight of Hand, or Stealth.
