Heartstopper, Capítulo 1: Encuentro

• The first chapter is titled "Encuentro" (Meeting).

Enero (January)

• The cell phone displays messages that read "Biblioteca?" on Monday, Dec 14.

• There is a message on Wednesday, Dec 16 which reads "Sala de música 2?"

• On Thursday, Dec 17 there is a message that asks "Bibliotecał".

• Charlie and Ben are kissing in the library.

• A bell rings, and Charlie says it was just the first bell, and that he has to leave.

• Ben asks "Por qué?? (Why?)".

• Charlie responds with "Lo siento (I'm sorry)".

• A notice announces Nueva Formación de Grupos (New Group Formation) at Escuela Truham Grammar para niños (Truham Grammar School for Boys).

• The notice says, "Desde principios de Enero todos los estudiantes de Truham serán colocados en nuevos grupos de forma vertical para egistrarse a las 9:30 am y 2:05 pm de todos los dias (From the beginning of January, all Truham students will be placed in new vertical groups to register at 9:30 am and 2:05 pm every day)."

• Each formacion vertical will contain 5-6 students from each year.

• Nueva forma: Hamlet 5 (New form: Hamlet 5).

• Forma de la sala: B25 (Room form: B25).

• "lavor asista a la inscripción en su nuevo grupo de mularios verticales al comienzo del nuevo periodo en enero (Make sure to attend the registration with your new vertical groups at the beginning of the new period in January)."

• Charlie is in Hamlet 5, with Sr. Lange.

• Sr. Lange greets him with "Bueno, no es Charlie Spring! Feliz Año Nuevo!(Well, it is Charlie Spring! Happy New Year!)".

• Sr. Lange says "Ah si! Tú estás por ahí (Ah yes! You are over there)".

• Sr. Lange indicates that Charlie is next to Nicholas Nelson, who is in 11th (el 11° ) year, so only one year older than him.

• Charlie thinks, "¿Por qué siempre me saluda todas las mañanas ¿Es una broma? ¿Es como los chicos que solían intimidarme el año pasado de nuevo? (Why does he always say hi every morning? Is it a joke? Is he like the guys who used to bully me again?)".

• Charlie continues to think, "¿Probablemente se está burlando de mí? Si no por ni siquiera está en mi año (Probably he's mocking me? If not why is he even in my year)".

• Charlie's pen explodes and Nick says "No tienes pañuelos, ¿verdad? Mi pluma... emm explotó (You don't have any tissues, do you? My pen... um exploded)".

• The teacher says, "oh querido Nick, sera mejor que te vayas à limpiar al baño (Oh dear Nick, maybe you should go to clean up in the bathroom)".

• The teacher continues with, "Charlie, ¿puedes ir con Nick y abrirle las puertas? (Charlie, can you go with Nick and open the doors for him?)".

• After this experience, Charlie thinks "Espero perderme algo del primer período... Tengo doble ciencia (I hope I don't miss anything from first period... I have double science)".

• During that moment Nick asks "Lo siento por esto.. (Sorry for this..)".

• Then Nick asks "Ugh! Con quién tienes? (Ugh! Who do you have it with?)".

• Charlie asks him "Entonces... ¿cómo explotó tu pluma? (So... how did your pen explode?)".

• Nick says, "Es una pluma estilográfica Hacen eso a veces (It's a fountain pen, they do that sometimes)".

• Charlie asks "¿No es realmente dificil escribir con las plumas estilográficas? (Isn't it really difficult to write with fountain pens?)".

• Nick replies, "Sí, pero hace que mi letra se vea bien (Yes, but it makes my writing look good)".

• Charlie laughs and says "!i jaja!! vas a ser azul para siempre (Haha!! you're going to be blue forever!)".

• Nick says "Me veo como si estuviera usando guantes azules (I look like I'm wearing blue gloves)".

• Charlie replies, "Puedes convertirlo en la nueva moda escolar (You can turn it into new school fashion)".

• Nick continues, "Voy a fingir que es un tatuaje (I'm going to pretend it's a tattoo)", but Charlie says that "Creo que eso podría estar en contra de las reglas escolares (I think that might be against school rules)".

• Charlie thinks, "¿Fue esa la primera o segunda campana? (Was that the first or second bell?)".

• As Charlie checks his messages on his phone, he recieves one from Ben that reads, "¿Biblioteca? (Library?)", and another that reads "¿Sala de música 2? (Music room 2?)".

• Ben continues to message "Charlie, ¿dónde mierda estás? ??? Estoy esperando (Charlie, where the f*ck are you? ??? I'm waiting)".

• Ben continues the messages saying "Ni siquiera te molestas en enviarme un mensaje de texto? Eres tan jodidamente inútil (You can't even bother to send a text message? You are so f*cking useless)".

• Nick wonders to himself, "Charlie??".

• Charlie responds with "Em-si-la primera campana (Um-yeah-the first bell)".

• Charlie wonders, "¿Amigos? (Friends?)".

• Charlie and Nick run into some of Nick's friends, who inquire about their friendship, "¿Eres amigo de Nick Nelson ahora? (Are you friends with Nick Nelson now?)".

• Charlie's friend Tao observes TAO XU (Amigo), "¿Que tiene? ¡Nick es realmente agradable! (What's with him? Nick is really nice!)".

• TAO wonders ¡Pero es uno de los muchachos de rugby! Es amigo de Harry Greene, por el amor de Dios (But he's one of the rugby boys! He's friends with Harry Greene, for god's sake.)".

• TAO goes on to say "VAMOS. Es un jodido "chav". Llama a todos "amigo" Y probablemente arroja comida a las personas en el autobús (COME ON. He's a f*cking "chav." He calls everyone "friend" and probably throws food at people on the bus)".

• Charlie thinks "aunque a mi no me llama amigo (even though he doesn't call me friend)".

• Charlie thinks someone is going to get hurt if he gets close to Nick.

• Another friend observing Nick and Charlie thinks,"Estas enamorado deél (You're in love with him)".

• Charlie answers "* Eso no es... Yo... Yo no me enamoro de cualquier chico que sea agradable conmigo (* That's not... I... I don't fall in love with just any guy who is nice to me)".

• Charlie thinks again "Probablemente sea hetero de todos modos (He's probably straight anyway)".

• Charlie then thinks "Dios mío, Ben! Cállate!! (Oh my god, Ben! Shut up!!)".

• Nick messages Charlie, "Ya no quiero reunirme mas (I don't want to meet up anymore)".

• Ben then messages, "Por qué? (Why?)", then explains, "Por el amor de Dios no nos van a atrapar (For the love of God they aren't going to catch us)".

• Ben then pressures "Charlie!! ¡No me ignores!!!!! (Charlie!! Don't ignore me!!!!!)".

Febrero (February)

• It is Monday, February 1st.

• During P.E. Nick wonders, "Hemos estado haciendo esto todo el año y nadie ha superado el tiempo de Charhe todavía!(We've been doing this every year and no one has beaten Charlie's time yet!)"

• One of the rugby players asks Nick, "¿Qué estás mirando? (What are you looking at?)".

• Nick says, "Nada (Nothing)."

• Then Charlie gives direction saying "!NICK! pásala! (NICK! pass it!)".

• Nick approaches Charlie.

• Nick follows Charlie. -Nick says to Charlie "Oye, Charlie (Hey, Charlie)".

• Nick says "Necesito hablar contigo (I need to talk to you.)"

• Charlie ignores Nick by saying "Emm... tengo una clase de batería ahora mismo (Emm... I have a battery class right now)".

• Nick becomes visibly aggravated. He says to Charlie "¡Responde mis malditos mensajes, entonces! ¡Han pasado dos semanas! (Answear my f*cking messages, then! It's been two weeks.)

• As Nick is angry, Charlie says "Ya dije que ya no quiero reunirme contigo (I already said I don't want to meet with you.)"

• Charlie sees Nick with Ben and asks "Emm... ¿está todo bien? (Emm...Is everything okay?)".

• Nick reacts to it and says "No sabía que conocías a Ben (I didn't know you knew Ben.)". -Nick asks Charlie "Emm.... si? (Emm... yeah?)". -Nick insists, "Hablaremos luego, Charlie (We'll talk later, Charlie.)". -Charlie insists, "¿Por qué eres amigo de Ben Hope? Es un idiota (Why are you friends with Ben Hope? He's an idiot)". -Nick and Charlie are fighting and Charlie says to him "Nosotros no somos amigos!! (We're not friends!!)".

• Charlie asks Nick "Lo ayudo con su tarea de matemáticas? (You help him with his math homework?)".

• Nick says to Charlie, "Entonces... como sea...".

• Nick asks "Tengo algo que preguntarte! (I have something i wanted to ask you)".

• The scene switches and Nick says to himself, "Chache, puede que no lo sepas, pero yo también soy gay, y estoy enamorado de ti ¿Saldrias conmigo? Quiero estar contigo para siempre (Chache, you might not know it, but i'm gay, too, and i'm in love with you. Wanna go out with me? I want to be with you forever.)"

• Nick walks up to Charlie and asks "Quieres unirte al equipo de rugby? (Want to join the rugby team?)".

• To this Charlie reacts, "Nos falta I jugador! Todo el mundo parece preferir el fútbol (We need 1 player! Everyone seems to prefer soccer.)"

• Charlie is surprised and says "Emm... bueno... realmente no sé cómo jugar. Nunca lo veo en la TV (Emm...well... i'm not sure how to play. I never watch it on TV)".

• Nick is excited and says "¿Por qué yo? (Why me?)".

• Nick asks "Te vi correr en E.F. ¡Eres realmente rápido! (I saw you run in P.E. You're realy fast!)".

• Charlie expresses his insecurity, "Emm ¿no soy un poco pequeño y débil para el rugby? (Emm, aren't I a little small and weak for rugby.)".

• Reaasuring Charlie, Nick says "Bueno, esto es solo un equipo de la escuela (Well only we got is the school team.".

• Nick tries to explain the game to Charlie who seems confused and says "Mierda, me estoy perdiendo mi lección de baterial (Shit, I'm going to miss my battery lesson)".

• As they decide the question that arises is "¿La campana? ¿Ya terminó el almuerzo?(The Bell? Did lunch terminate already?)".

• Charlie asks, "¿Puedo pensarlo? (Can I think of about it?)".

• Nick says goodbye, "iTe veo más tarde! (See you later!)"

• Nick wonders to himself, "¿El toca la batería? (Does he play drums?)".

• A week later, Nick asks Charlie "(Assim que, Charlie Spring? (So, Charlie Spring)".

• One of the other players asks "¿Pero por qué él? (But why him)".

• Another player complains that, "él Es popular, todos lo aman, pero ¿puede jugar? (He is popular, everybody loves him, but can he play?".

• Someone mentions "El es un jodido palo.(He's a f*cking stick)

• Nick interjects and says that its O sea, sé que es popular, todos lo aman, pero ¿puede jugar? (In other words, I know he is popular, everyone loves but can he play".

• Someone comments, "¿Siquiera le gustan los deportes? Todos saben que es gay- (Does he even like sports? Everybody knows that he is gay-.)".

• Nick seems confused and upset by everyone discriminating Charlie.

• As practice begins Nick begins explaining the goals of the game. He says that, "Así que hay 4 formas de anotar en rugby: un try, una conversion, una penalty o un drop-goal. (So, there is like 4 forms to score on rugby: One try, one conversion, a penalty or a drop-goal)".

• Nick goes on saying, "Un try es donde pones la pelota sobre la línea, las conversionsy los penalties son donde tienes la oportunidad de patear la pelota en el Parco contrario y urr drop-goal es donde la pateas a través de los postes durante el juego norma (A try is when you place the ball on the line, the conversions and penalties allow you to be able to kick the ball to the inverse arc and the a drop-goal in where you can kick the ball above the posts during normal play)".

• Looking confused Charlie says to Nick that, "ESTA ES MUCHA INFORMACION. (THIS IS A LOT OF INFORMATION.)".

• Nick agrees by that, "Probablemente lo entenderás después de algunos juegos! (Likely you will understand after some plays!)".

• Nick says that " Espero que estés preparado para verme, alguien absolutamente malo, (I expect you're prepared to watch me, someone absolutly bad,".

Entrenamiento (Training)

• Charlie joins the rugby team training.

• The coach SENORITA SINGH says "Entonces Eres el elegido(Then are like really the choosen one)."

• The rugby players asks Charlie, "¿en qué año estás? (what year are you?)".

• They go on wondering "¿Alguna vez jugaste rugby? (have you ever played rugby?)".

• One of the players mentions "¿Nick dice que eres un corredor rápido, ¿si? (Nick says that you are a fast corridos, yo?".

• Charlie claims with "No( No)".

• The team say they "¿sabes es eso? know?"

• Nick teaches Charlie how to hold and throw a rugby ball.

• Nick says, "Gira tu cuerpo un poco más! (Turn your body a lil bit more)".

• Then as Charlei learns a move, he says, "ESTOY ENTENDIENDOLO (AM LEARNING it)"

• Charlie follows Nick's instructions.

• Eventually Nick yells, "!Eso es! Sabía que lo conseguirías(That's it! Knew you would done it.)".

• Next, Nick teaches Charlie the a tackle in rugby.

• After Charlie questions if he has to, Nick says , "¿Quieres intentar tacklear?(...Tacklear? (want to try tackler?.

• Charlie is hesitance about, "Definitivamente soy demasiado débil para hacer eso (defenetly I am to weak to done that)".

• To motivate Nick says "Dale una oportunidad. (Give me an opportunirty.)".

• After trying it, Charlie ask "¡Estuvo perfecto! !Lo estuvo? ( It was perfect. it was?) .".

• After getting praise Charlie has hearts in his eyes.

• Afte a few successful days in practice.

• "¿Lo está(I'ts it?".

• As practice ends, Nick explains, "Así que hemos cubierto pases y anotaciones… (so that's how you done touches)".

• They are all talking about Charlie.

• One of the teammembers, "Ahora ya no se si me quieren en el equipoo (now I dont no If I been wnathed in the team?)". Nick responds, "Es tonto(Is stupid)".

• Thinking back to there is something wrong, "Todas los chicos un poco mayores me recuerdan a las personas que solían intimidarme(everbody in team is reaminding who used to make balingy.)

• Nick goes and comfort Charile and says "¡Bien, me gustas y Te quiero en el equipo!¡¡Jaja!! ¡Bien!(well I like you and want in the team.

• Charlie's heart explodes out and he says to himself repeatedly, "Me gustas(I Like you)."

After practice end.

• Charlie gets a test saying "me ignores!!!(ignore)
• Charlie is at home playing Nick says "*lo quería comprobar que estabas bien. (Wanted to done well")
• Then Nick says"¡Si lo eres. bien, Podría ser una historia un poco larga lol (Yers doit it can be a long.)".

Charlie ends the chapter at home talking to himself and a dog.
