- Lassie Come Home
Released in 1943, Lassie Come Home is the third movie in the Lassie series and it’s the one that’s most well-known. In the movie, Lassie is kidnapped by a group of smugglers and taken to Scotland, where she’s eventually found by a farmer and his daughter. Lassie is eventually brought back home to the United States and her story has a happy ending.
- Rin Tin Tin II
Rin Tin Tin II first appeared in the movie The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin in 1973 and he was played by a German Shepherd called Bosko. Bosko was originally meant to be the star of the movie, but due to his death just a few months before filming began, the role was given to Rin Tin Tin II instead. Bosko’s death is still mourned to this day, as he was one of the most popular dogs in Hollywood at the time and his death left a huge hole in the cast and crew.

Max was a German Shepherd who starred in the movie The Dog Who Saved Hollywood. Released in 1996, the movie tells the story of a group of dogs who are used to track down a fugitive, and Max is the dog that’s eventually chosen to do the job. Max is a brave and determined dog and he eventually catches up to the fugitive and brings him to justice.
- Sergeant Stubby
Sergeant Stubby was a British military dog that served in World War II and he’s perhaps most famous for his role in the Battle of Arnhem in 1944. Sergeant Stubby was part of the 6th Airborne Division and his job was to help guide the Allied troops to the bridge over the river Rhine. However, his biggest contribution came during the Battle of Arnhem when he helped to save the lives of many soldiers by leading them to safety.
