Overview

• Hacienda San Jose in Mijas is a flagship venue for sunshine weddings.

Guest Numbers and Rental

• The minimum guest count is 50, starting March 9th.
• A €350 charge plus 10% VAT applies if fewer than 50 adults attend.
• Menu prices are based on 50 adult guests; a €5 supplement per person applies if the guest count is under 50.
• A food tasting for 4 people incurs a €250 charge plus 10% VAT.
• Children's menus are paid for, even for children under 2, but bringing your own food for children is permitted.

Accommodation and Rental Details

• The venue has 10 bedrooms: 5 in the lower courtyard, 3 on the main house level, and 2 upstairs, all ensuite.
• There are 21 beds on site (insitu).
• Up to 4 additional beds can be added for €50 each, including beds and linen.

• Two cots are included in the rental fee.
• The minimum rental period is 3 nights.
• Weekend rentals are from Friday to Monday, and midweek rentals are from Monday to Friday.

Wedding Details

• The maximum number of wedding guests is 150 as of February 22nd, 2024.
• Dogs are allowed to stay overnight, but only for the ceremony, subject to Yvonne's approval and a pet disclaimer.

Nearby Accommodation and Legal Ceremony Locations

• La Cala de Mijas is the nearest accommodation option (10 minutes away).
• The closest churches for a legal ceremony are:
  • Santa Teresa, La Cala de Mijas (ceremony times are usually flexible)
  • Encarnacion, Marbella (25/30 minutes drive, ceremony times are usually flexible)
  • Inmaculada Concepcion, Mijas Pueblo (20/25 minutes drive, ceremony times usually only possible at 13:00 and 17:00)

On-Site Ceremony

• Guests enter through the main front gates and can have welcome drinks in the front garden area.
• Mini buses drop guests at the front gate, and guests are guided to the front lawn area.
• Ceremony options include:
  • Front lawn with altar by trees facing Mijas Pueblo and Mijas Mountains.
  • Upper side lawn with a slightly elevated diagonal view of Mijas Pueblo and Mijas Mountains.
• The front lawn area is usually the more popular option.

Drinks Reception, Dinner, and After-Dinner Party

• The drinks reception location is the reverse of the ceremony location.
• Highball cocktail tables and a bar area are set up with drinks and 5-6 canapés served.
• Musicians are allowed for the ceremony and drinks reception.

Dinner and Music

• Dinner is typically on the grass area behind the house.
• The top table is usually positioned between hedges with a view of the pool.
• Round guest tables in front seat 8-10 guests.
• Background music during dinner is usually a playlist without live music or a band.

After Dinner Party Details

• The after-dinner party can start outside on the patio terrace.
• A DJ can play outside until 23:00, then move to the disco room or lower courtyard.
• Live music is not allowed outside after dinner or on the main garden level at the back of the house, except for a Spanish Guitarist.
• From 23:00, the party can continue in:
  • The disco room on the main garden level, with doors open and the bar outside on the patio.
  • The lower courtyard, which is open-air but enclosed to contain the music level

Caterers, Decoration and Transport

• In-house catering is provided.
• Menus include a ceremony set up, waiter service for drinks reception and throughout dinner, and a separate bar set up.
• Staff charges for the bar after dinner are included.
• Welcome drink service is NOT included in menu costs and menus do NOT include any drinks.
• Clients are introduced to an independent drinks wholesaler (usually IDRINKS), who assists with the order, delivery, and fridge placement.
• Unopened drinks can be collected and refunded on check-out day, subject to a small surcharge.
• Decoration is handled in-house through Yvonne, but clients can bring their own.
• Access is available for small coaches (24 seaters) to drop off outside the main gate.
• Larger 55-seater coaches wait nearby, with smaller vehicles acting as shuttles

Additional Considerations

• For second-day parties, clients can bring their own drinks and food but cannot use an external caterer.
• An agreement with the local community accepts weddings.
• Noise-sensitive areas are the side lawn and dinner lawn.
• Parties in the courtyard are generally unrestricted.
• Softer, romantic-style music can be played, with potential management by the venue.
• Music can be louder in the courtyard allowing for dancing under the stars.
