  • The contest is the 18th Annual Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship Contest
  • Prudent Publishing Company, Inc./The Gallery Collection sponsors the contest ("Sponsor").
  • The sponsor's address is 400 North Frontage Road, Landing, NJ, 07850.

Eligibility

  • The contest is open to high school, college, and university students enrolled in an academic program designed to award a diploma or degree.
  • Legal residents of the 50 United States, the District of Columbia, American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Puerto Rico are eligible.
  • International students with a student visa to attend school in the United States are considered legal residents and eligible.
  • Applicants must be at least 14 years old at the time of entry, unless prohibited by law.
  • Employees of the Sponsor, their family members, and people living in the same household as employees or their family members are not eligible.
  • Purchasing an item is not necessary to enter the Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship.
  • It is an annual $10,000 contest on gallerycollection.com to create a Christmas, holiday, birthday, or all-occasion greeting card.
  • The contest is void where prohibited by law and is governed by U.S. law.
  • The contest is subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
  • Only one application is allowed per person, and those who enter with more than one identity will be disqualified.
  • Prizes will not be awarded to applicants who do not meet the eligibility requirements, and all application information must be accurate and complete.

Timing

  • The contest begins July 8, 2024, at 12:01:00 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET").
  • The contest ends March 3, 2025, at 11:59:59 p.m. ET.
  • Applications submitted after March 3, 2025, are not eligible.
  • Incomplete submissions or submissions sent outside the Contest Entry Period will not be considered.

Agreement to Official Rules

  • Participation constitutes the applicant's full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules.
  • By entering, the applicant warrants the submission is original, unpublished, and free of conflicting rights, including copyright or intellectual property rights.
  • Applicants agree that the Sponsor, its affiliates, parents, subsidiaries, agents, contractors, employees, officers, and directors are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage resulting from participation.

Originality; No Infringement

  • All designs or photographs must be the applicant's original work.
  • Contest submissions must not infringe upon any third party's intellectual property rights, including copyrights, trademarks, or patents.
  • Plagiarism will lead to disqualification.
  • Art generated using AI or similar synthetic media programs are prohibited and will cause disqualification. Entrants must only submit their own original artwork that they created, affirming no AI-generated content was used.

Publicity; Use of Name and Likeness

  • Entry permits the Sponsor to use the applicant's name, city, state, entry, likeness, photograph, and image for advertising, publicity, and promotional purposes, unless prohibited by law, without further permission, consent, payment, or consideration.

Use of Designs and Photographs

  • Non-winning designs and photographs remain the property of the applicant.
  • Prudent Publishing Company, Inc. can use these designs and photographs for publicity or as content in any media without additional permission, unless prohibited by law.
  • If the Sponsor wishes to publish a non-winning entry as a greeting card, they will compensate the applicant, assuming that an agreement can be reached.
  • If the applicant and sponsor cannot come to an arrangement, the applicant will have to power to disallow its use.
  • The winning entry becomes the exclusive property of Prudent Publishing Company, Inc., for publicity, publication, or content in any media, unless restricted by law.
  • Original artwork, including uploaded images, photographs, paintings, and drawings, will not be returned, unless requested from a potential winner who does not win.

Online Entry Only

  • Participants should register and complete the online application at www.gallerycollection.com.
  • The online application must include original artwork or photograph, the applicant's personal information, grade level, student ID, and school details.
  • The contest allows one entry per person, and multiple entries result in disqualification.

Judging Criteria; Overall Awards

  • One $10,000 Scholarship Prize is awarded.
  • The Sponsor employs experts in Greeting Card Designs
  • A panel of objective judges selected by the Sponsor reviews entries monthly.
  • Approximately 100 designs per month will be posted to www.GalleryCollection.com for voting
  • Not every design is chosen to be posted for voting.
  • Voters can vote once per day.
  • The top ten designs with the most votes will automatically move onto the finalist round.
  • The panel of judges can "save" at least one additional design per month to move on to the finalist round.
  • The top 5 entries from monthly voting and five entries selected by judges become the Top ten finalists after the Submission Period Ends.
  • The panel of judges will select one winner from the top 10 finalists.
  • The panel will score entries based on aesthetic appeal, execution quality, creativity, design element incorporation, greeting card appropriateness, attractiveness to customers, and suitability as a design in Prudent's Gallery Collection greeting card line.
  • The Scholarship recipient will be selected around May 1, 2024.

Additional Rules

  • Non-binding user voting may be considered in determining the final Winner.
  • Using automated, programmed, robotic, or third-party software or websites to enter or vote is prohibited and will result in disqualification.
  • The winner will be notified around May 1, 2024, and will be announced on the Prudent Publishing Company, Inc. website (www.gallerycollection.com) around May 15, 2024.
  • The winner will get a cash scholarship of $10,000.00.
  • If enrolled, the $10,000 Scholarship will be paid to the educational institution to cover tuition, fees, books, and supplies.
  • Any remainder will go to the Winner.
  • If the Winner is a minor, the Scholarship will be awarded to the Winner's parent or guardian as custodian, or to their educational institution.
  • No prize substitutions or transfers are permitted.
  • The Winner and/or their parent or guardian are responsible for any taxes on the Scholarship prize or other prizes. The Sponsor will issue an appropriate 1099 form.
  • Payment of awards is contingent upon receipt of verification that the applicant meets all eligibility requirements.
  • The sponsor can give out additional prizes.
  • All scholarships and any additional prizes are awarded without regard to race, sex, sexual orientation, religion, age, or national origin.

General Terms and Conditions

  • Winning depends on fulfilling all Official Rules requirements. The Sponsor's administration decisions and prize awards are final.
  • The Sponsor will notify the potential Winner around May 1, 2024, following the information in the Contest entry.
  • It is the applicant's responsibility to notify the Sponsor of any telephone number or address changes.
  • The potential Winner (or their parent/guardian if a minor) must sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility and a Publicity/Liability Release and the original artwork and/or a hi-resolution layered digital file or a hi-resolution file with accompanying sketch within seven (7) days or the prize may be forfeited. The prize is not transferrable.
  • The Sponsor can't contact a potential winner, or a prize notification is not received within seven (7) days of issuance, the prize may be forfeited. An alternate Winner will be chosen based on the Judging Criteria.
  • The odds of winning depend on the quality and eligibility of submissions, as well as the number of entrants.
  • The Sponsor can cancel, modify, or suspend the Contest if fraud, technical failures, or other factors impair the Contest's integrity.
  • By entering, entrants release and hold harmless the Sponsor, its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, injuries, illness, death, loss, or damage related to participation, entry, or prize.
  • The Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost, illegible, incomplete, stolen, misdirected, illegitimate, or any other error.
  • Official Rules and the Winner's name are available at www.gallerycollection.com/greeting-cards-scholarship.htm, or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to “Prudent Publishing Create-A-Greeting-Card Scholarship”, 400 North Frontage Road, Landing, NJ 07850.
  • Contest results will be available after May 15, 2025, and requests must be received by May 25, 2025.

Create-A-Greeting-Card Guidelines

  • Prudent Publishing Company, Inc. has been a premium, personalized greeting card publisher for over 90 years.
  • Gallery Collection Holiday and All-Occasion cards are sold through direct mail catalogs and website, targeting a corporate clientele with cards of the highest quality using rich paper, heavy embossing, and foil stamping.
  • Designs receiving a Scholarship Award from Prudent Publishing become the exclusive property of Prudent Publishing and cannot be copied, reproduced, or given to any other parties; all information provided shall be kept in confidence, and a copyright assignment relinquishing all rights to the design will be required.
  • Most designs are 5 1/2" x 7 7/8", so entries should be proportional.
  • Entries should not exceed 16" x 23".
  • Most designs or photographs are horizontal.
  • All designs are tested extensively, with various stocks, foils, colors, type solutions, and cropping variations explored.
  • Once a design is produced, credit to the artist is only given in the catalog and website, and a standard Gallery Collection credit line appears on the card.
  • The contest is known as Create-A-Holiday Card, Create-A-Christmas Card, and Create-A-Birthday Card.
  • Any type of greeting card design can be entered.
