Sequencing Words
- Use words like "first", "next", "then", and "finally" to show the order of events
- Examples: "First, I will eat breakfast. Then, I will brush my teeth."
- Sequencing words help us understand the sequence of events in a story or instructions
Identifying Statement, Command, or Question
- A statement is a sentence that tells us something (e.g. "I like ice cream.")
- A command is a sentence that tells us to do something (e.g. "Close the door!")
- A question is a sentence that asks us something (e.g. "What is your name?")
- We can identify the type of sentence by its ending and words used
Filling in the Blanks of an Instructional Text
- Instructional texts are used to give us directions or instructions
- Examples: recipes, DIY guides, and rules
- We need to fill in the blanks with the correct sequencing words and command verbs to make the instructions clear
Understanding End Marks
- Statements end with a period (.)
- Questions end with a question mark (?)
- We use the correct end mark to show the type of sentence
Rearranging Words to Make a Sentence
- We need to put the words in the correct order to make a sentence that makes sense
- Examples: "me my is name" can be rearranged to "My name is me."
