- The Gond region was divided into garhs, further divided into 84 villages (chaurasi), and then into barhots (12 villages each).

- Garha Katanga was a prosperous kingdom, earning wealth by capturing wild elephants and exporting them to other kingdoms. The Mughals defeated them, seizing valuable resources.
