Generator Start-up Procedure

• The Dead Crank switch must be in the 'Normal' position before starting the generator.

Sentinel Radar Operations

• The "Dead Crank" switch must be set to the "Normal" position before starting the generator.

Remote Control

Radar Operations

• The "dead space" above the Sentinel Radar is also known as the "Cone of Silence", a radius not covered by the radar.
• The Enhanced Sentinel radar can be emplaced in approximately 30 minutes.

Antenna Operations

Encryption

• The KIV-77 component is inserted into the AN/TPX 57 to store Mode 4/5 encryption codes.
• Up to 31 days of encrypted TEKs and 2 days of unencrypted TEKs can be loaded into the IFF Interrogator (AN/TPX-57).

Safety and Operations

• The Sentinel Radar can operate in wind speeds up to 52 MPH with gusts to 75 MPH.
• The technical manual used to provide the SENTINEL operator with information on the AN/MPQ-64A3 is TM 9-1430-740-10.

Communication

• The SINCGARS or ASIPs Radio provides voice communication during movement or operation of the Sentinel, and send-only CONOPS data communication.
