Formula Bharat 2025 Rules Booklet

  • The competition challenges teams of university students to design, fabricate, develop, and compete with small, formula-style, race cars.
  • The competition is split into two categories: Internal Combustion Engine Vehicle (CV) and Electric Vehicle (EV).
  • All vehicles must meet the requirements defined in chapters T and either EV or CV, depending on their drivetrain type.

Vehicle Eligibility

  • Vehicles entered into the competition must be conceived, designed, and maintained by the student team members without direct involvement from external professionals.
  • Student teams may use information from professionals or academics as long as it's presented as a discussion of alternatives with their pros and cons.
  • Professionals may not make design decisions or drawings.
  • Students should perform fabrication tasks wherever possible.

First Year and Second Year Vehicles

  • A vehicle may only be used for one year, counting from the first day onsite of its first competition.
  • To be classified as new, a vehicle must have a newly manufactured chassis with significant changes in the primary structure to its predecessor.
  • Second-year vehicles must be modified to comply with the rule book of that competition year.
  • Teams participating with a second-year vehicle are required to submit a Second Year Vehicle Compliance Report (SVCR).

Competition Overview

  • The competition starts with a series of technical inspections to check the vehicle for safety and compliance with the rules.
  • The competition is divided into static and dynamic events.
  • Maximum points are awarded as follows: Business Plan Presentation (75 points), Cost & Manufacturing (100 points), Engineering Design (150 points), Skid Pad (75 points), Acceleration (75 points), Autocross (100 points), Endurance (325 points), Efficiency (100 points), and Overall (1000 points).
  • The team with the most overall points will win the competition for its category.
