- Flowers can be arranged spirally or in whorls
- Some flowers have more than one set of floral leaves arranged either spirally or in whorls.
- Flowers can be unisexual (either male or female) or bisexual (both male and female parts)
- Neuter flowers have neither male nor female parts
- Flowers with absent calyx and corolla are called nude flowers
- Examples of plants with unisexual flowers include Cucurbita maxima
- Plants that bear only male flowers are called staminate, whereas those bearing only female flowers are called pistillate.
- Examples of unisexual flowers: Compositae family
- Some flowers have both male and female parts, and these are called bisexual flowers.
- Dioecious plants have separate male and female plants
