Mandatory Revocation or Suspension of Driver License for Minors
- If a person under 18 years old is found guilty of or delinquent for a drug offense, their driver license or driving privilege will be affected.
- The court will direct the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to take action against the minor's driver license or driving privilege.
Scenarios and Penalties
- If the minor is eligible for a driver license or driving privilege, their license or privilege will be revoked or withheld for 6 months.
- If the minor's driver license or driving privilege is already suspended or revoked, the court will add an additional 6 months to the existing suspension or revocation period.
- If the minor is not yet eligible for a driver license or driving privilege due to age, the court will direct the department to withhold issuance for 6 months after the date they would have become eligible.
Exceptions
- The court may grant an exception in compelling circumstances, allowing the department to issue a restricted license for business or employment purposes only.
- The restricted license is only available if the minor is otherwise qualified for it.
Additional Penalties
