Safety Protocols for Moving Hose Loading
- Only trained Fire Rescue personnel may load hose while apparatus is moving.
- A designated Safety Observer must oversee the operation, maintaining visual and voice contact with the Driver Operator.
- Areas must be secured from non-Fire Rescue traffic, controlled by authorized personnel.
Driving Conditions
- Only forward motion is permitted at a maximum speed of 5 mph.
- No Fire Rescue personnel can stand on the apparatus; seating is only allowed in the hose bed.
- Situation evaluation must occur prior to loading to ensure safety compliance.
Loading Procedure Steps
- Position drained hose straight along the road; apparatus should align with the hose and the last coupling.
- At least 2 firefighters should occupy the hose bed to connect the hose from the ground.
