    • Station 1 will receive one spare, two Special Detail radios, and three R106 radios.
    • Station 5 will receive one spare radio and one TRT spare radio.
    • Station Officers are responsible for storing, maintaining, and securing all station radios.

    Reporting

    • Extra personnel assigned to a fully staffed vehicle will be assigned a spare radio.
    • Unit officers must notify the on-duty Battalion Chief of the radio identification number assigned to extra personnel.
    • The Battalion Chief will place a radio tag in CrewSense for the person assigned the spare radio.
    • Spare radios must be returned to the Station Radio Cabinet once no longer in use.

    Apparatus Safe Backing

    • The use of spotters is required when backing fire apparatus is unavoidable or restrictive clearance maneuvers are required.
    • Two Suppression Units, two Rescue Units, TRT 105, EMS 101, and Battalion 105 are required to use spotters.

    Emergency Response Assignments

    • All response assignments are categorized by Incident Type.
    • First, Second, and Third alarms initiate varying responses.
    • Public Assist incidents are handled by one Suppression Unit (S/U) or one Rescue Unit (R) with a non-emergency response.
    • Investigations are conducted by one S/U or one R.
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) is handled by one S/U or one R.
    • Advanced Life Support (ALS) incidents will need one R or one S/U and one R.
    • Critical Life Support (CLS) will require one R and one S/U.
    • Shooting or Stabbing incidents will require one R, one S/U, and EMS 101. Additional Rescues are added for each victim.
    • Assault incidents (severe injury) will require one R, one S/U, and EMS 101, with additional Rescue units based on the number of victims.

    Incident Safety Officer

    • Incident Safety Officers must identify and report unsafe conditions, including hazards associated with the incident.
    • Examples of unsafe conditions include back-draft, flash-over, structural collapse, personnel requiring rehabilitation, opposing fire streams, inadequate lighting, unsecured utilities, dangerous areas, decontamination operations, and personnel not wearing turnout gear, full SCBA, and pass devices.
    • Communication of any identified unsafe conditions is critical.

    Tactical Priorities

    • The Tactical Priorities of Boynton Beach Fire Rescue include:
      • Life Safety
      • Incident Stabilization
      • Property Conservation

    • The original Incident Commander will be re-assigned as the RIT Leader.
    • All personnel assigned to the RIT will operate on the original tactical channel to maintain clear communication with the personnel calling the Mayday.
    • Command will conduct a PAR (Personnel Accountability Report) to ensure the safety of all staff.

    Motor Vehicle Accident Management

    • It is critical to avoid placing anything (including your body) between a patient and a non-deployed airbag due to the risk of remaining electrical charges.
    • Car manufacturers are frequently adding side-impact airbags in newer models, which must be considered.
    • Impact-absorbing bumpers can return to their original position at any time after an incident and must be avoided to prevent injuries.
    • Critical patients should be triaged and accessed by Fire Rescue personnel wearing appropriate protective clothing.
    • The airway, spine, and secondary assessment must be stabilized with critical patients.
    • The Fire Department Apparatus Placement Standard during an MVA involving Interstate or Divided Highway must be adhered to.
