Licensing Regulations and Classes

- The Public Vehicles Act regulates the for-hire movement of people on highways via bus.
- A Full G licence is required to apply for Class A, B, C, D, E, or F licences.
Class Licences Overview
- Class A: Permits driving any tractor-trailer combination and vehicles in Class D and G.
- Class B: Allows driving school purpose buses and vehicles in Classes C, D, E, F, and G.
- Class C: Authorized to drive regular buses and vehicles in Classes D, F, and G.
- Class D: For driving motor vehicles exceeding 11,000 kg gross weight and any truck/combo; towed vehicle limit is 4,600 kg. Also able to drive classes G vehicles.
- Class E: Permits driving any school purpose bus with a max capacity of 24; also drives vehicles in classes F and G.
- Class F: Allows driving regular buses with a max capacity of 24; can also drive ambulances and Class G vehicles.
- Class G: Permits driving cars, vans, small trucks, or combinations up to 11,000 kg; towed vehicle limit is 4,600 kg.
G1 and G2 Class Restrictions
- Class G1: Drivers must be accompanied by a fully licensed driver with at least four years of driving experience.
- Class G2: Holders may drive Class G vehicles independently without an accompanying driver.
Motorcycle Licensing
- Class M: Permits the operation of motorcycles, motor tricycles, limited-speed motorcycles, and motor-assisted bicycles; may also drive G class vehicles under G1 license conditions.
- Class M2: Allows motorcycle operation with zero blood-alcohol level; can drive G class vehicles under G1 conditions.
Medical Requirements
- Medical reports required for Class A, B, C, D, E, or F licences.
- Drivers under 46 must submit a medical report every five years.
- Drivers aged 46 to 64 must submit reports every three years.
- Drivers aged 65 and older must submit reports annually.
Additional Requirements
- Corrective lenses must be worn if the licence is conditional on their use.
