- A societal issue is a problem that negatively affects the personal or social lives of large groups within a society or the well-being of communities, and there is usually public disagreement as to its nature, causes, or solution.
- Examples of societal issues include poverty, unemployment, bullying, homelessness, forced migration, hunger, global food crisis, overpopulation, and climate change.
Poverty
- Poverty is a state or situation in which a person or a group of people don't have enough money or the basic things they need to live, including food, clothing, and shelter.
- Even if the total output of goods and services were equally distributed, it would still be insufficient to give the entire population a comfortable standard of living.
Unemployment
- Unemployment refers to a situation where a person actively searches for employment but is unable to find work.
- Unemployment is considered a key measure of the health of the economy.
- The most frequently used measure of unemployment is the unemployment rate.
Violence
- Violence means the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community.
