Development of Nursing Standards in the Philippines
- Nursing standards development is legally based on Article III, Sec. 4 (h) of Republic Act No. 7164 (Philippine Nursing Act of 1991).
- The Professional Regulatory Board of Nursing (PRBON) has the authority to monitor and enforce quality nursing practice in the Philippines.
- BON Resolution No. 82, issued in September 1998, adopted the Standards of Safe Nursing Practice.
- In 2001, the Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP), PRBON, and the Philippines Nurses Association (PNA) created the Standards of Nursing Services.
- The Philippine Nursing Act of 2002 (R.A. 9173) reinforced these standards, mandating the PRBON to uphold high ethical and professional nursing standards.
Core Competencies for Beginning Nurses
