Introduction to Exit Examination for Ethiopian Higher Education Institutions

• The Federal Ministry of Education has introduced exit exams for undergraduate programs starting from 2015 E.C.
• The objectives of the exit exam include:
  • Producing skilled and competent manpower for the national and international market
  • Assessing students' educational achievements in major areas of educational planning and management (EdPM)
  • Ensuring EdPM graduates meet the requirements of the labor market and employability

Expected Profile of Graduates

• The Department of Educational Planning and Management runs a Bachelor of Arts degree program to produce professionals who can handle leadership responsibilities in a decentralized system of educational organization and management.

Competence and Learning Outcomes

• Five themes of competencies:
  • Planning in Education
  • Resource Management in Education
  • Leadership in Education
  • Supervision in Education
  • Research in Education
• Under each theme, graduates are expected to demonstrate specific competencies, general objectives, learning outcomes, and suggested courses.

Selected Courses for Exit Exam

• 15 courses are selected to start the preparation of the exit exam framework, covering 5 themes.
• Each course is assigned a specific credit hour and ECTS credit.
