- Handheld radios and associated equipment must be securely maintained at all times.

- Negligence resulting in loss or damage of equipment may lead to coaching, counseling, or disciplinary action.
Battery Management
- Batteries must be replaced when the level drops below 50%.
- Battery replacement is mandatory during each shift change, regardless of battery level.
Responsibilities for Non-Operations Divisions
- Division Chiefs and Managers are responsible for ensuring personnel are informed and compliant with security measures for handheld radios.
Operations Divisions Guidelines
- Personnel in uniforms must carry hand-held radios in specific approved methods:
- Use of holsters with shoulder straps.
- Secured on belts using approved attachments.
- Radios must never be carried in uniform pants pockets.
Use of Accessories
- While using handheld radios, lapel mics must be fastened to radio strap loops, uniform epaulet, or collar.
