Study Notes

Epithelium Types

Stratified Cuboidal Epithelium

  • Comprises 2-3 layers of cuboidal cells, making it a relatively thin tissue
  • Rarely found in the body
  • Lines the excretory ducts of glands, such as salivary and sweat glands

Transitional Epithelium

  • Characterized by surface cells that are large, cuboidal, and have a convex, dome-shaped surface
  • Some cells can be binucleated, containing two nuclei
  • Found in the urinary system, spanning from the renal pelvis to the urethra

Learn about different types of epithelial tissues, including stratified cuboidal epithelium and transitional epithelium, their characteristics and locations in the body.
