Second Arriving Apparatus
- The crew of the second in apparatus proceeds to the fire floor to back up the first in crew.
- If the second in apparatus is not equipped with a pump or has been tasked with other duties, this must be relayed to all incoming apparatus and a subsequent pump apparatus shall assist the first in pump with water supply and/or FDC connections.
- Minimum equipment required for Second Arriving Apparatus includes:
- One donned SCBA per fire fighter with face piece
- One portable radio per fire fighter
- One portable hand light per fire fighter
- One set of irons (flathead axe, 30" Halligan)
- 3 x 15m 65mm Hose Packs and Standpipe Kit
- Thermal Imaging Camera
Third Arriving Apparatus
- The Officer of the third arriving apparatus assumes Lobby Control unless it is a High Rise, Haz or Squad.
- Lobby Control must be assumed by a Pump or Aerial class apparatus.
- Minimum equipment required for Third Arriving Apparatus includes:
- One donned SCBA per fire fighter with face piece
- One portable radio per fire fighter
- One portable hand light per fire fighter
- One set of irons (flathead axe, 30" Halligan)
- Entry Control Board
- Medical Equipment
- Thermal Imaging Camera
First Arriving District Chief
- The first arriving District Chief follows TFS procedures on transfer of command.
- An Incident Action Plan is established if not already completed.
- Priority is given to immediate resource needs as the incident dictates.
- Incident priorities include:
- Search and Rescue
- Fire attack
- Ventilation
- Communications (activation of DVRS, communication modules on High Rise Response Trucks)
- RIT
- Increasing alarm level, as required
- Designation of Staging Location
- Designation of Base Location
- Water Supply
- Other organizations (Hydro, Gas, Public Works, TTC, etc.)
- Building IMS to meet the needs of the incident
- Evacuation strategy (Shelter in Place)
- Initiate transfer of operations to the Command Vehicle if incident dictates
