Emergency Evacuation and Shelter Plan
- Purpose: Establish an Emergency Action Plan for evacuating personnel and providing a safe shelter during an emergency.
Evacuation Procedure
- Personnel are alerted to an emergency through:
- Sounding of the fire alarm
- Public address announcement system
- Verbal announcement
- Northwest Central Dispatch Station alerting
- In an emergency, personnel must evacuate by the nearest available marked exit.
- Portable fire extinguishers are available for employee use to attempt to extinguish the fire before evacuating.
- Assembly will occur in front of the fire station on the apparatus apron or in the rear parking lot, where personnel will be accounted for by the Company Officer.
Safe Sheltering Areas
- Designated safe sheltering areas for extreme weather emergencies (e.g. tornado warnings) are:
- Station 21: West bathroom
- Station 22: Classroom in the basement
- Station 23: Men’s washroom area
- Station 24: Basement
