Electrical Safety and Installation

General Security

• Electrical installations should be established by qualified electricians according to the type and volume, and their maintenance and operation should be ensured.
• The provisions of the Regulation on the Authority and Responsibilities of Scientists in Electricity should be followed.

Authorisation

• People without sufficient electrical knowledge employed as assistants should be given necessary information, instructions, and explanations in advance.
• Electrical facilities should be built and operated in a way that does not cause damage to life and property.
• Technical measures should be taken to prevent people from touching live parts of electrical facilities.

Technical Measures

• Transformers, capacitors, or other electrical equipment should be located in a harmless place far enough from windows, balconies, and similar places.
• Horizontal and vertical distances must comply with the Electric Power Current Installations Regulation.

Safety Dimensioning

• Electrical installations should be arranged and dimensioned to cut off short circuit current and prevent danger to people.
• Facilities should be openly arranged for quick and safe monitoring, operation, repair, and maintenance.
• Important plant parts and devices should be easily accessible and removable without difficulty.
• Facilities should be divided into sections to minimize operation interruption in case of failure.
• Maintenance and repairs should be done at specified intervals and recorded in a permanent maintenance book.

Lighting Facilities

• Lighting installations should be installed and operated according to Turkish Standards and the Electricity Internal Facilities Regulation.
• Lighting devices should not harm workers' health and should not produce sharp, dazzling, or flickering light.
• Technical measures should be taken to prevent image errors in machine illumination.
• Sufficient backup lighting devices should be available in case of malfunction, and automatic backup lighting equipment should be used in night work areas.
