Electrical Code Questions and Answers
- Service drop conductors passing over residential property and driveways must have a vertical clearance of 5500 mm.
- The equipment bonding jumper can be installed inside or outside of a raceway or enclosure, but the length outside the raceway shall not exceed 1800 mm.
- Electricians should consider all electrical equipment live unless they are certain they are not to avoid personal injury.
- Electrical floor assemblies should not be installed in wet or damp locations.
- The working space in front of switchboards or motor control centers with exposed energized parts shall not be less than 1000 mm.
- Cabinet and cutout boxes must have an air space of at least 2.0 mm between the base of the device and the wall of any metal cabinet or cutout box.
- Service conductors in cable shall not be smaller than 5.5 mm2.
- The demand factor for the first 10 kVA or less for non-dwelling receptacle loads is 100%.
- Seals on conduit entering an enclosure for switches, circuit breakers, etc., must be installed within 460 mm before entering the enclosure.
- The ampacity of conductors can be derated at most three times.
- In the schedule of loads for lighting, the frequency rating is not necessary.
- If potential exceeding 600 V is employed, a permanent warning sign must be displayed.
