Electric Potential is a measure of how much electrical work has been done by bringing a unit charge from some reference point to the actual point where it's measured. Let's explore some key aspects related to this concept:
Conductors
Conductors are materials through which an electric current can flow easily. They have free electrons available to move around when a voltage is applied across them. For example, aluminum, copper, silver, gold, etc., are all good conductors. A conductor has zero potential everywhere so its local electric potential depends only upon the net balance of positive charges nearby.
Voltage
Voltage is another term used interchangeably with potential difference. It refers to the difference in electric potential between two points in a circuit. If there is a higher concentration of negative charge at one end of a wire than at the other end, we say there is a voltage across the wire from the high side to the low side. This means if you start with a negative charge close to one end of the wire, and let go, it will move along the wire until it reaches the other end.
Electric Potential Difference
The electric potential difference between any two points in space refers to the amount of work required to bring unit charge up against the electric field that exists in those spaces. In other words, if you take a little bit of charge out into empty space and put one part somewhere else, you must do some work; and if you want to know how much work is needed per unit charge, you need know what the change of electric potential was over the distance the charge moved.
Potential Energy
Potential energy is just like kinetic energy except it doesn't involve motion. Instead, it involves position relative to someone else who might want to make use of your stored energy. And because it has nothing to do with motion, it can exist at rest too. The energy of a charged object due to its electric potential is called electrostatic potential energy. An object in a gravitational field possesses gravitational potential energy due to its height above ground level.
Electric Field
An electric field surrounds every electrically charged body or region of matter where particles carry either positive or negative electricity. Like gravity, electric fields attract opposite charges and repel similar ones. However, unlike gravity, the strength of attraction varies directly with the separation of the objects. Electric fields also become less powerful quickly after leaving their source.

By knowing these principles, we can calculate many important quantities, such as work on a charge, force acting on a charge, power supplied, and rate of working.
