  • Benben brought forth the first gods: Shu, the God of the air, and Tefnut, the goddess of rain.
  • Shu and Tefnut explored the universe, which was covered in primordial waters.
  • Rah, the Sun God, ruler of the universe and the first Pharaoh, created the sky and the earth, and gifted Egypt with sacred animals.
  • Rah had a premonition that his grandchildren would end his reign and forbade the sky and the earth from having offspring.
  • Disobedient gods Newt and Gabe gave birth to powerful offspring: Isis, Seth, and Osiris.
  • Osiris started to reign over the world, but his throne was not safe from his brother Seth's power struggles.
  • Seth, the God of destruction, plotted against Osiris and eventually killed him, scattering his body throughout Egypt.
  • Isis, with Anubis's help, mummified and resurrected Osiris.
  • Horus, Osiris and Isis' son, claimed his rightful throne from his uncle Seth.
  • Ra, the Sun God, decided to relinquish his power and go to the skies.
  • Anubis, the God with a jackal head, was connected to life after death, embalming, mummification, and protecting tombs and cemeteries.
  • Bastet, the Cat Goddess, was associated with the Sun and protected the world against the serpent Apophis.
  • Cats were considered sacred animals, and were mummified and worshipped throughout Egypt.
  • Bastet was also associated with Sekhmet, the lion goddess, in some versions.
  • The worship of Egyptian gods ended during the Greek and Roman rule, but cats continued to be revered as sacred animals.
