    Dog Shows - Scheduling and Applications

    • To hold an Open Show, Obedience Open Trial, or Open Agility Event, clubs must submit the Official Schedule Proforma form to Dogs New Zealand at least one month before the show date.
    • Obedience Working Trials require an application to the Dogs New Zealand Obedience Committee.
    • Ribbon Parades, Obedience Ribbon Trials, and Agility Ribbon Trials require notification to Dogs New Zealand in accordance with Regulation 27 and Obedience Regulations.
    • No permission is required to conduct other Recognised Shows, subject to Dogs New Zealand Obedience Regulations for Obedience Training Classes and Agility Events.

    Clubs Sharing Show Dates

    • Clubs sharing show dates must schedule them in a reasonable manner to avoid conflicts with other shows on the same date.

    Conflicting Dates

    • Open Shows, Obedience Open Trials, Ribbon Parades, Obedience Ribbon Trials, and Agility Ribbon Trials cannot be scheduled to conflict with Championship Shows, Tests, or Agility Events within a reasonable distance.

    Specialist and Multi Breed National Shows

    • All Breed Judges, including overseas All Breeds judges, are not permitted to judge at Open Shows and Ribbon Parades in New Zealand.

    Judging at Shows

    • Each class at recognised shows must be judged by one Judge only.
    • All New Zealand Judges must be listed on the appropriate Dogs New Zealand Show Judges Panel and approved by the Executive Council before judging.

    Dangerous Situations

    • Exposing a dog to dangerous situations, such as extreme weather or cruelty, is forbidden.

    Breed Standards

    • Only breeds with definitively or provisionally accepted breed standards by the FCI and registered in the studbook or appendix of an FCI member country can be shown.
