Division of Fire Organizational Chart
- The Division of Fire is organized into a number of bureaus, including:
- Fire Prevention Bureau
- Support Services Bureau
- Training Bureau
- The Fire Prevention Bureau is headed by a Captain and includes District Inspections, Fire Investigations, and Office Assistant roles.
- The Support Services Bureau is headed by an Assistant Chief and includes a variety of support roles, including Apparatus Liaison, Maintenance, Inventory Control, and Research and Development.
- The Training Bureau is headed by an Assistant Chief and includes a variety of training roles, including In-Service/Officer Training, EMS Education Manager, and Apprenticeship.
- The Division of Fire is organized by rank, with the Fire Chief being the highest ranking position.
- The Division also has a number of civilian positions, such as Store Keeper, Laundry Technician, and Hose & Nozzle Technician.

Division of Police and Fire Regulations

- Officers are responsible for the guidance, training, counseling and discipline of their subordinates.
- Officers must be just, dignified and firm in their dealings with others, and must refrain from using violent, abusive, or immoderate language.
- Officers must ensure that all rules, regulations, and orders are strictly carried out and obeyed.
- Officers must promptly report any transgressions of Division rules, regulations, or code of conduct to the proper authorities.
- Officers disagreeing with an order must first obey and then express their viewpoint to their superior officer.
- Officers must relay all written communications through proper channels.
- Division members shall maintain a clean personal appearance and participate in the Division's physical fitness program.
- Division members are prohibited from littering or contributing to unsafe or unsanitary conditions.
- Division members must abide by safety rules and practices.
- Division members are prohibited from using Division vehicles for personal errands or business that is not Division-related.
- All Division members must follow the Columbus Municipal Civil Service Commission Rules and Regulations, and the City of Columbus Central Work Rules.
- If arrested and unable to report for their regular assignment, Division personnel must notify the Fire Alarm Office immediately.
- Division personnel can only use previously scheduled vacation, monthly vacation, or LWOP in accordance with 712.15.
- Division personnel must notify the Fire Chief in writing through the chain of command if subject to arrest, court action, or court appearance (excluding divorce and child custody proceedings, unless resulting from nonpayment of child support).
- Division personnel must notify the Fire Chief in writing if they initiate lawsuits relating to their employment with the Division of Fire.
- Division personnel, including sworn personnel, must notify the Fire Chief if they are served with criminal temporary protection orders or any court orders related to domestic violence.
- Sworn personnel who operate motor vehicles on duty and are subject to the loss, suspension, or revocation of their driving privileges must notify the Fire Chief.
- Division personnel must notify the Fire Chief if they receive a subpoena from, or assist, a party in any civil or criminal matter that is against the interests of the Division of Fire, or the City of Columbus.
- Division personnel must notify the Fire Chief if they receive a subpoena from, or assist, the defense in a criminal case.
- Division members shall devote their full time and attention to the business of the Division while on duty.
- Division members are prohibited from engaging in any activity that is directly or indirectly associated with an off-duty business, occupation or employment during on-duty hours.
- Members shall not neglect their duties. Use of personal electronic devices must be limited to times when the goals of the Division have been met and it does not lead to public criticism.
