Dimensioning
- Dimensioning is the process of placing sizes and related information on a drawing
- Two types of dimensions are used, size and location
- Size dimension gives the detail and overall size of the object
- Location dimension locates parts or features on the object
Aligned Method
- All dimensions are aligned with the dimension line and read from the bottom or right side of the paper
Unidirectional Method

Rules in Dimensioning

- Continuous dimensions should be used whenever possible
- Staggered dimensioning should be used when the space for dimensioning is limited
- When dimensioning a circle, it should be from center to center
- Dimensions are entered in millimeters without measures
- Extension lines must have a distance of about 10 mm from the object edge and an approximate 2 millimeters after the dimension lines
