    Study Notes

Digital electronics is a sub-science of electronics that uses digital circuits to process and store digital binary numbers. These circuits are built using logic gates, and the two types of digital circuits are combinational and sequential circuits. In this article, we will be focusing on the subtopics of Boolean algebra, combinational circuits, digital design tools, sequential circuits, and logic gates.

Boolean Algebra: Boolean algebra is a set of rules that allow us to perform logical operation on binary numbers. These rules are used to simplify logic circuits and design combinational logic circuits. The basic logic gates used in digital circuits are AND, OR, NOT, NAND, and NOR gates. These gates are used to build combinational circuits, and their outputs are determined by the combination of logic levels present at the inputs

Combinational Circuits: Combinational circuits are built using logic gates whose outputs at any time are determined solely by the current inputs. These circuits have no memory characteristic, and their output depends only on the current value of their inputs. Combinational circuits are used to perform logic function of up to four variables

Digital Design tools: Digital design tools are used to design and analyze digital circuits. These tools use Boolean algebra and other design techniques to simplify logic circuits and design combinational logic circuits. Karnaugh Map Method, Algebraic Simplification, and Designing Combinational Logic Circuits are some of the techniques used in digital design tools

Sequential Circuits: Sequential circuits are built using combinational circuits and memory elements called "flip-flops" These circuits generate output that depends on the current and previous states. Sequential circuits are used in modern computing systems, as without adding sequential circuitry, modern computing would not be possible

Logic Gates: Logic gates are the building blocks of digital circuits. The five basic logic gates used in digital circuits are AND, OR, NOT, NAND, and NOR gates. These gates are used to build combinational circuits, and their outputs are determined by the combination of logic levels present at the inputs

In the digital electronics, the combinational logic circuits are used to perform logic function of up to four variables. These circuits are built using logic gates whose outputs at any time are determined solely by the current inputs. The digital design tools are used to design and analyze digital circuits. These tools use Boolean algebra and other design techniques to simplify logic circuits and design combinational logic circuits. Sequential circuits are built using combinational circuits and memory elements called "flip-flops" and these circuits generate output that depends on the current and previous states. Logic gates are the building blocks of digital circuits and the five basic logic gates used in digital circuits are AND, OR, NOT, NAND, and NOR gates
